Let's talk Turkey!

Ok for those of you who don't know, I have been a turkey hunter for almost 5 seasons (5 Years).  Of those 5 seasons my good friend Matt and I have only harvested one each.  Needless to say at several times in our short hunting career, wonder if there were turkeys in Colorado..  All that to say we didn't see a lot of turkeys.  So fast forward to today Sun March 30 (13 days tell Spring turkey season opens) we as a family all 6 of us decide to take a little walk around my parent's block.  Well we head back into an area none of use have checked out and as we are walking up this street I see a turkey walk up the dirt road, and then another one, and another one.  22 turkeys walk out of this guys lawn and up the hill to the forest!  So I give my best non-mouth call, mouth hen call and get half of them to stop and look back at us (Mostly jakes for those of you that care).  Then I try my gobble not a lot of interest.  But when I let out my Crow call I got 4 Toms to not only answer back, but two of the Big Boys fluffed up and struted for me.......... What a day,  To see all the turkeys in the state of Colorado at one time.....ALLSOME MAN! ;)

You're killing me, Smalls!

I really am starting to miss hunting. Not just the shooting but the camaraderie with you guys. Pop one for me (that doesn't mean I'm giving permission to shoot 2) and give my shotgun a loving pat...it must be getting lonely.

That happened to me too!!! Course, it was in the frozen food section at King Soopers but that's beside the point. Shall I bring the stuffing and mashed potatoes?
