Stolen..... But just because it's cool.

Visualizing the Interconnectedness of the Bible

This image won honorable mention in the 2008 International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge. It's a visual picture of the intricate interconnectedness of Scripture.

Here's the description of the image from National Geographic's website:

"A colorful rainbow brings to light the interconnected nature of one of the world's most familiar books.
The Bible's 1,189 chapters are plotted along the horizontal axis at the bottom of the image, with each bar's length determined by the number of verses.

The arcs above the graph show the 63,779 cross-references between each chapter. 'It almost looks like one monolithic volume,' said Carnegie Mellon's Chris Harrison, who--along with Christoph Romhild of North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Germany--won an honorable mention for illustrations in the 2008 International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge"

Notice right in the middle on the graph the white line that drops below: Psalm 119.

The best line: "It almost looks like one monolithic volume."
It's as if maybe Someone planned it that way or something...
This is absolutely fascinating.
I may use this image in a future teaching.

This amazing post was stolen from brokenstaniglass thanks JR keep up the great work...
I am sure I well need it some day. ;)
